The Hickory Jacket with Tammie -
A crocheted jacket with wide front bands and collar. Worked in an open work shell pattern, this jacket is the perfect choice for cool days and summer nights. Our sample was crocheedt in Classic Elite Firefly but there are many other choices for yarns. Class fee $60 includes pattern book. Bring size E and F hooks.

Socks on Two Circs with Marcia – Having a hard time maneuvering dp needles? Learn to make socks on 2 circular needles. Bring 2 circular 24″ needles in size 1, 2, or 3 (the size recommended for your yarn and 100 grams of sock yarn. $50.00 class fee includes instructional booklet and pattern.

TUESDAY CLASSES

Lorri’s Shawl for Spring – If you can knit, purl, yarn over and K2tog, you could be wearing this shawl. If you fear charts, this pattern is both charted and written out. Find your favorite DK weight yarn and knit a one size fits all capelet from Vogue Spring/Summer 2010 Please bring 990 yds. DK weight yarn, stitch markers (at least 15), size US 7 and 9 circulars (at least 29”, longer is better), crochet hook size G, H or I (only need one), size US 8 straights (for border- can use double points or circulars ) Pattern included in class fee of $60

(K)novice Knitters Group with Eileen
Have you wanted to better understand the basics of knitting? You will learn how to cast on, knit and purl, decrease and increase stitches and then to bind off. You’ll have an article of your choice … a hat, a scarf, a baby blanket or sweater, for example… that you’ll be proud to wear or give as a gift to a loved one. We’ll look at different yarns appropriate to your specific project. You’ll learn the difference between needle styles (straight, circular or double points), and we’ll provide a working knowledge of abbreviations (co, yo, bo, inc, and dec) and their meaning in a pattern. There will be a wealth of tips, techniques and tools which will enrich your knitting experience far into your knitting future. You may bring your own yarn and/or needles, or receive a 10% discount on any materials bought as part of the class. Classes held on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. May. 8, 22 & June 12 & 25 11:00 – 12:30pm Cost: $15 per class, $50 for 4 sessions.
Great American Aran Afghan (GAAA) with Lorri - Need motivation to knit this afghan? Join us the 2nd Tuesday of every month and you will learn interesting and amazing knitting techniques. The GAAA requires 2000 yards of worsted weight yarn.
This month we will be knitting the Hanna Burns Block (pg 32) Bring US 8 needles and a cable needle. The GAAA requires 2000 yards of worsted weight yarn, size 6 knitting needles and a cable needle. $15 each session.Tues. May 8, No JUNE CLASS monthly thereafter 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Grafting on Steroids with Lorri - Learn to graft garter stitch, ribbing and cables so they look as seamless as your stockinette grafting. Homework required. Class fee $15.

Drop Stitch (Seafoam) Scarf / Shawl with Lorri - Knit this simple yet beautiful scarf or shawl for spring and summer. Many yarn weights are acceptable, so pick something soft and drapey and bring along appropriate sized needles. Class fee $30.

WEDNESDAY CLASSES
The Tomten* Jacket is an original Elizabeth Zimmermann design, similar in popularity to her Baby Surprise Jacket (but not as challenging). Knit yours in cotton for play dates in the park or on the beac,h or get a jump start on fall/winter with an easy care wool blend. Tomten is a modular garter stitch jacket, knit in one piece with seams at the underarm sleeve. Sized for babies through adults, in multiple gauges and weights, there are options for hood, collar, or a shaped cardigan neck. Additional techniques include garter stitch weaving, I-cord buttonholes, and more. (*Tomten is a small Swedish elf who specializes in good deeds). Class fee $60 includes pattern.

THURSDAY CLASSES

Summerflies Shawl with Maryanne -This lacy shawl is perfect for summer. It covers the shoulders on a cool summer night or in a cool restaurant. The butterflyand lace designs are my idea of summer days. The fabric choices can be dk or worsted weight for this adventurous beginner lace project. Class fee $50 and includes pattern.

Blocking and Dressing your Knits. Are you mystified as to what blocking and dressing is? The mystery can end in one night. This class will discuss the differences, advantages and disadvantages of steaming, wet blocking and stretching your knits. $15.00 class fee.

Ebony Jewel Wing Bag with Maryanne - Have you ever wanted to try multi-color knitting? Well, this one is for you. This medium size bag is a great introduction to color knitting. This fair isle knitted bag will be done in cotton yarn (yarn included in class fee) and knitting in the round on Size 5 needles. As a bonus to this class we will also learn how to line this bag with fabric. Class fee $50 and includes pattern.

Finishing your Garments. Make your seams look seamless and effortless. In this one class learn how to sew your garments together using the mattress stitch. Bring a garment to seam or 2 stockinette swatches (at least 4 inches square), a tapestry needle and a smooth yarn for sewing. Class fee $15.

SUNDAY CLASSES
Crocheted edge for fleece blankets -
No time to work up a quick baby gift but want something with the personal touch? No previous crochet experience required. Here’s a great technique for finishing the edge of any piece of fleece. You will be able to use this skill to create any size blanket from baby to adult. Kit included. Bring size 9 steel & F crochet hooks. Class fee $25

Weaving a Scarf on a “Knitters Loom” with Janet Bring worsted-chunky yarns from your stash. Looms are supplied and available for purchase. Class limited to 4. $60 class fee. Bring a snack/lunch please.
